The Most Common Life Mistakes Young People Make

By James Altucher
I lied, stole from my parents, cheated, scammed, humiliated others and laughed, threw rocks at people with the intent to kill. All by the time I was 10 years old.
Later it got much worse. Later I actually thought I was smart.
This is the great thing about being young: you’re so arrogant and stupid and unreasonably confident that you have 100% confidence that everything you do will fit right into the picture.
A million piece jigsaw puzzle where you never pick up the wrong piece as you try to put it in the right position.
But this part is good: you have no money, so it’s really hard to blow it. And if you destroy a relationship, then good for you — you were too young anyway.
This I can say from my experience. I proposed to a girl when I was 19. Then when I was 21, 22, 23, and 24. All to different women.
And they all said yes. That’s how stupid we all were then. It was like the convention of stupid. StupaCon.
Fortunately we were all so stupid and broke that nothing ever happened.
Here’s the truth: you can’t fail as a kid. I sometimes get messages like, “I’m 23 and I failed and now I don’t know what to do.”
A) No, you didn’t fail.
B) Yes, you do know what to do.
Just do the next thing. That’s all you have to do. Regret of the past or anxiety of the future are the thieves of the present.
And don’t do “failure pornography.” You don’t get to succeed now because you failed. You’re not Luke Skywalker.
You get to succeed because if you do enough bad things in a row with the intention of doing a good thing, then eventually you get lucky and a good thing happens.
You don’t meet the love of your life until you’re lonely and looking. You don’t invent “hand washing” until you realize that people are dying in hospitals when doctors don’t wash their hands.
You don’t get to be a brilliant musician until you’ve spent many hours being a bad one and trying to improve.
Every good creation in history was the child of really ugly parents.
So don’t do failure porn. And don’t say you don’t know what to do.
Do the next thing. And the next thing might simply be “improve the old thing.”

Oh, and don’t make any of the mistakes in the attached infographic.
I wish I had this graphic when I was 18. I wish my kids would listen to this infographic.
Kids, if you ever listen to your father: print out this infographic, make it poster-size, hang it on your wall, and look at it every day. And say, “I love you, Daddy.”

I can say that because I know you won’t listen. How come?
Because you’re going to do many bad, stupid things and then, just by luck, good things will start to happen.
I hope so. I hope they will. If they don’t, then just do the next thing with hope and verve and that same zest you had before the arrogance was beaten out of you.
Oh. Don’t die though. Let me die first. I deserve at least that.
Tell me a mistake or two you made before age 25. Help my kids and others learn from you.

Anger will abate and become more controlled when it knows it must come before a judge each day. – Seneca

Change is the most important aspect in life to be successful.
Change to be better by focusing on the positive side of life.
Lessening is the first start. Less selfish, less easy becoming angry easily, and  discovering to overcome the many bad habits that we have can also affect the people around us.

We can change if we embrace to become better.
Better child, better parent, better husband/wife, better friend, better manager, better team member, better health, better spiritually, better man.

Just like saying that if we don't have job find job or make your own job as a businessman.

We can change under any circumstances.. old or young. Identifying self fault and getting better in our faults is all that matters to make change.

Create your plan >>> then take action >>> then do the work.

I know that  changing to better self  will not take you to change just in a week.

First, we must know our imperfections through self-reflection or the introspection defined as observation of one's emotional processes.
Below are some questions where you can try to rank yourself  from 1 to 10 , wherein 1 means you are struggling and 10 means you are strong.
1. Are you stressed out? Are you chilled out?
2. How are your health habits?
3. Are you eating the right foods?
4. Are you tired all the time?
5. Is it hard to fall asleep at night?
6.Are you sleeping 8 hours?
7. Are you fatigued?
8. How is your relationship with your partner, your children, and your parents?
9. Are you sticking to your vision?
10.How much stress are your finances causing you?
11. Do you see any changes coming soon?
12. Is money keeping you awake at night?
13. Are you prepared for challenges you have at work and as parent?
14. Do you need to acquire new skills to keep up?
15. Do you feel you are stuck in your life goals?
16. Are you making plans and goals?
17. Do you have big dreams?
18. How effective is your daily routine?
19.Are you on the verge of giving up?
20. Are you surrounded with the right and positive people to level up?
21. Do you have good role models in your life?
22. Do you have good communications relationship with your family?
23. Are you fixing your mistakes?
24. Are you avoiding conversations?
25. Are you hiding and hoping that the problems will fix themselves?

If you add up and your score and is under 150 there are some major problems in your life that needs to be addressed. And you need professional help.
On the other hand if the score is more than 150 which is better. It will also need a lot of work to do but you can fix it yourself and you know what you need to do.

Second, we must commit to change.
Lastly, believe that you can change.

"Remember, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." – Stephen King

Everybody experiences ups and downs in life. Big and small. Long and short. Maybe down first then up later or the other way around.

Who will come out and say they never experienced any problem in life?

Problem can lead to  physical, mental and emotional stress.

It depends on how it is handled. Either make it stay and ignore it, or improve life and recover from it.

It is hope that is all needed to survive in this situations no matter how horrific, dark, deep and long it may take.

Having hope in life will keep you going.

So give some hope to someone so they will move on.

Give yourself some hope.

As somebody once told before that if there is a hope, there is a will. And when there is a will, there is a way.

So give everybody hope.

Nobody knows what is written in the coming days of your life.

So no matter what problem that is, There is a hope.

"For me, I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.” ― Neil deGrasse Tyson

Self-education is a cheaper type of education but it needs more patience, more understanding, more reading and more searching. Never be discouraged from learning extra-curricular for all this is added to knowledge.
Knowledge may not be learned from just reading books and and instructions, it also requires experience, practice, ideas, action for results and feedback. Self-education without practice will lead to nothing.

How will self-education lessons and information turn to action?

1. Start to do what is learned.
Don't wait when is the time to be ready, because the time to start is today. The sooner it is started the better.
Don't expect so much on the payment, it is the experience that matters.

2. Process.
Observe and make record on the things taught. Reading a lot, taking notes, compiling and organizing the thoughts then repeating learned things from the experience helps improve memory. For easier retrieving, organize a system. Always carry paper tools where you can write things you have in mind. Try to write something on the experience.
Process flows on talking, teaching and other means where lessons and experience are on hand. Even if no one reads your compositions, your post and only 1 or 10 are your readers it doesn't matter. Don't worry on the attempts and learn and write about it.

3.Apply.
Expose and apply learned things. Ideas don't magically happen and it doesn't become action on its own. Just do it. Rather than sitting at home do some crappy jobs and write about it, what lessons are the result from it. Then combine read and learn, apply the lessons on whatever things happening and done. Connect all, what and how ridiculous it is, because never knowing what will happen may lead to something.
There is no fool should be,because the books can be read everywhere. Reading maybe a waste of time is not, if it accumulates the head, processed and acted on it has an outcome you will never know until you try it. Take risks and prove it. Get going.

“Your past failures have no bearing on your future,” Ford writes, “And if you can change the way you approach your work, you can change the way you live.”

Change your thinking and you will change your future..

If we always think of the past mistakes we did, we will never move on. Let that mistake stay in the past and we should learn from it. We should also learn from others' mistakes.

If we always hear negative from other people let them talk all they want, just ignore them, they are not the one who will stop us from our better future.

The best thing we can do is open up our mind and heart for a better change and it will reflect from the outside.

Forgive ourselves that we stopped doing what we love to do,

And forgive others who are the cause of it so we can move on.

We sometimes absorb people's negativity, we must avoid them. Think positive things that will remove that negativity.

Identify and talk to people who have positivism in goals.

Think and try some positive thoughts like " I am proud of doing this thing", "I feel strong and healthy everyday", "i'm learning a lot ", "i'm lucky to wake up", "i feel satisfied and accomplished today", "i feel better every time i do new things", ''i appreciate what i have accomplished today".

Life is so short to think of what others are saying. Don't let them bother you, go on with the life you want to live.

“I will tell you how to become rich. Close the doors. Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful.” – Warren Buffett

Money Money.. With our greed,  we make mistakes.

We make mistakes in investing.

If we don't know how to invest  we should ask help from more experienced people.
We should not put the last money we have or large amount of money in any business we don't have knowledge about it.

-We should consider the risk first and then see if the reward is worth it.

-An objective is a must before starting an investment. Planning and discipline can result to an accomplishment.

-Successful people are great asset for starting investors. They can help a lot rather than invest with your own risk.

-Invest in a profitable business.

-We should avoid so much debt or should not risk big loans for an investment we don't know.

-And we should invest in not just one business or investments.
